iPad Information
The District’s mission calls on us to equip students with the necessary skills to be successful so that when each student graduates, each will possess the capabilities to compete in and contribute to the changing demands of the world. The one-to-one program has provided the means to transform the teaching and learning environment so that our students have the opportunity to learn the skills needed to succeed in this digital world. Our teachers, with the support of the administration and a robust professional development program, have been able to create an innovative learning environment in order to provide our students with extraordinary opportunities and an exceptional learning program. With this mission in mind, the Board of Education approved the recommendation for full implementation of the one-to-one program in the fall of 2014, providing an iPad device to every student attending one of the District’s seven schools. The schools will provide a durable case to protect the iPad against drops and other possible damage.

District 211 iPad Protection Plan
The District 211 iPad Protection Plan offers students and their families protection from the full cost of repair or replacement should their school-assigned iPads become damaged, lost, or stolen. The plan helps to offset the costs that may occur due to accidental damage (mostly drops or spills), loss, theft, vandalism, fire, flood and natural disasters.
The annual premium for the iPad Protection Program is $25 per individual device. It covers the iPad, on and off school grounds, from the time the device is picked up for the specified school year through the following summer break. The iPad Protection Plan must be completed and paid in full by October 1, 2026, or within 60 days of the student enrollment date to be effective for the 2026-2027 school year. Claims that arise after these dates will be subject to full repair costs if the iPad protection plan is not in place. See the iPad Protection Plan in the link below for specific details.
District 211’s optional iPad Protection Plan is available to be purchased today through your MySchoolBucks account. Learn more information on MySchoolBucks and how to establish an account.

📱Graduating Seniors iPad Backup Procedures
Graduating Seniors iPad Backup Procedures
iPad Purchase Option
For graduating seniors, we highly recommend purchasing your iPad. Seniors are notified during second semester of their final year about how to purchase their devices. When available, purchases can be made through MySchoolBucks. For seniors that purchase their iPads, an email will be sent explaining the steps to follow in order to remove the school rights and make the iPad their own. For seniors who purchased iPads, their devices will be converted to personal devices after finals conclude on the last day of second semester.
For students who have not purchased their iPads, iPads must be returned on the day of graduation rehearsal. On this day, staff members will be available to collect devices as part of the graduation rehearsal process. Any graduating seniors who need their iPads for finals or summer school should not turn in their devices. Instead, devices can be turned in to the Technology department once all class requirements are completed.
Backup Instructions for Graduating Students
Whether you purchase you iPad or turn it in at the end of your senior year, the contents of the iPad will be completely removed after your school commitment is completed. You will want to start cleaning up your Google Drive, Google Email, and iPad. If you purchased your iPad, your iPad will be erased on the last day of the regular school year following finals - usually after noon (unless you have not fully graduated or completed your coursework). If you did purchase your iPad, you will have control of it once it is erased. For all students, your H-drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, Schoology and Google Email will be unavailable starting August 30 of your graduation year and deleted one month later on September 30.
Here are our suggestions for backing up and saving your data.
- Consider getting a jump drive of at least 15 gigs. This will give you somewhere to put all your information.
- Consider getting a personal google account. This will give you another place for some of your current data, and help you to continue working as usual.
- Get a personal Apple ID (if you don’t already have one) if you are purchasing your iPad. If you restore from backup, you will still have restrictions, so you should NOT restore from backup.
- Back up your iPad before the last day of the school year. Once the iPad is erased, you cannot recover the information.
- Take time to do this process. Here is a suggested timeline.
- Day One: Backup your Email, H-drive, and iPad to your Google Drive
- Day Two: Create an Archive of your Google Drive
- Day Three: Download your Archive to a jump drive or your personal computer or to your new personal Google Drive. (For every 2 Gigs of data you have, the process could take 20 minutes – 2 hours depending on internet connection)
Again, once the deadline hits, your files, photos, videos and other data will not be available.
